Garrigues has been hit by the loss of one of its senior tax partners with the news that Jordi Dominguez has left the Spanish firm for Latham & Watkins.
Dominguez (pictured) is a tax partner who focuses on cross border M&A matters. He joined the tax branch of Arthur Andersen in January 1995, which later merged with Garrigues. He was based in New York from 2005 to 2007 before moving back to Barcelona.
Dominguez, who pointed out Latham's international reach as a factor for hism move, served as co-head of the Spanish firm's US desk as well as the local tax practice.
"Jordi is highly complementary to our transactional practice in Spain," said José Luis Blanco, Latham & Watkins' Spanish head. "His sophisticated tax expertise and market contacts further enhance our corporate and finance practice and our overall standing in the Spanish market. Moreover, his team-building skills and strong leadership will play a key role in our continued growth."
The hire is a boost to Latham's Spanish practice which launched with the addition of Blanco from Cuatrecasas. Currently the US firm only has one other partner in Spain in the shape of Antonio Morales.
