Swissport's current general counsel and head of legal affairs, Elena Fernandez, is to step down next month. She has been with the company since 2005 and will return to Ferrovial's Madrid HQ to take up the role of head of international and mergers & acquisitions.
Fernandez (pictured) will be replaced by José Ramón Delgado Lorente, who has been with Ferrovial since 1998. Most recently he served as the head of legal for Spain and Portugal at transport subsidiary Cintra, also a unit of the company. Swissport is active at 179 airports in 41 countries on five continents, and generated consolidated operating revenue of CHF 1.9bn (€1.3bn) last year.
The change follows the news that UK airport operator BAA recruited a new general counsel. Carol Hui was previously general counsel at UK construction company Amey. Both companies are owned by Ferrovial
